Kessler Named #3 Among America’s Best Rehabilitation Hospitals by US News & World Report

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation has again been ranked as one of the top three rehabilitation hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report and is the only facility of its kind in New Jersey to be named to the prestigious “Best Hospitals” list. This marks the 25th consecutive year that Kessler has been listed among the nation’s leading rehabilitation hospitals.

“We are honored that Kessler is consistently named as one of the very best rehabilitation hospitals in the country,” said Sue Kida, President, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. “Our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of quality care enables our patients to rebuild their lives after a significant injury or illness. We are proud of our more than 2400 Kessler employees and the expert care they deliver, and prouder still of our patients and the progress they make each day.”

According to U.S. News, the annual rankings recognize hospitals that excel in the treatment of individuals with complex medical needs and help guide patients to those hospitals that deliver outstanding care. “For nearly three decades, we’ve strived to make hospital quality more transparent to healthcare consumers nationwide,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis. “By providing the most comprehensive data available, we hope to give patients the information they need to find the best care across a range of specialties.”

Kessler’s Chief Medical Officer Bruce M. Gans, M.D. added that, “To be ranked third among the more than 1100 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units in the country is important acknowledgement of Kessler’s leadership not only in patient care, but also in research, education and advocacy initiatives.”

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, part of the Select Medical national post-acute care network, is one of only nine federally-designated Model Systems in the nation for the treatment and research of both traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, in collaboration with Kessler Foundation. The hospital provides that same comprehensive level of care to address the often complex needs of individuals with stroke, neurologic diseases, amputation, orthopedic conditions, cancer and cardiac recovery.

Kessler Institute has hospital campuses in West Orange, Saddle Brook, Chester and Marlton, and more than 95 outpatient Kessler Rehabilitation Center locations throughout the state.

The annual U.S. News Rehabilitation Hospitals list is based on an independent survey of randomly-selected board-certified physicians specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation medicine who were asked to name the hospitals that provide the best care to patients with serious or complicated conditions, regardless of location or expense.
