Kean University Enrollment Grows to Highest Total in History

More than 17,000 students from 82 countries and 35 states are registered at Kean University this fall, marking record enrollment.

Kean’s USA campuses welcomed its largest-ever number of new students for the first day of classes on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with more than 4,000 new freshmen, graduate students and transfer students registered to attend Kean.

“Kean University’s growing reputation for providing outstanding academic programs and fostering a diverse and welcoming campus environment is generating remarkable growth in our enrollment,” said Kean President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “As New Jersey’s urban research university, Kean is committed to supporting students from all backgrounds on their path toward earning a college degree. We are thrilled to welcome all of our new students this fall.”

Kean’s total worldwide enrollment includes students at Kean’s USA campuses in Union and Toms River as well as Kean Online and Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou, China.

Kean USA campuses are projected to educate more than 13,000 students this year.

Kean’s enrollment includes a four-year high in the number of graduate students at the University. More than 800 new graduate students are enrolled at Kean for the Fall semester, drawn by powerful programs in areas such as genetic counseling, physical therapy, computer information systems, business, education, psychology and more.

More than 2,000 students are registered to join the freshman class at Kean USA, bringing a higher average high school GPA of 3.27 compared to last year’s average of 3.1.

Kean Senior Vice President for Administration Michael Salvatore, Ph.D., said the Division of Enrollment Services worked tirelessly to engage with prospective students and share the story of Kean’s mission and journey with them.

“The collective efforts of various units have been fruitful, as we fill the beds in our residence halls, enjoy full rosters on our athletic teams, and meet the learning needs of our students with courses in various modalities,” Salvatore said. “It’s great to see so many new students on campus. We are here to make sure they have all the support they need to graduate and pursue the career of their dreams.”

Kean University is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report for innovation and for the social mobility of its graduates.

The University begins the 2023-2024 school year with strong academic programs; a commitment to equity and inclusion for all students; expansive student academic support programs; dedication to research; and robust financial aid services, including the Kean Tuition Promise program that provides qualified low-income students with an education at no cost.
