To further address the complex matters impacting New Jersey’s legal cannabis industry and coalesce around member initiatives, the New Jersey Cannabis Trade Association (NJCTA) has named industry veteran Todd Johnson as its new executive director.
In this new role at NJCTA, Johnson will be responsible for managing internal communication among member organizations and external communication efforts focused on reaching policymakers, government officials and other stakeholders. Johnson is also a co-founder of Community Greenhouse, a mission-driven cannabis company that was recently awarded a conditional license to operate a retail dispensary in New Jersey.
“When this opportunity presented itself, I knew my passion for the industry and my professional experience equipped me with the tools needed to effectively carry out the association’s mission,” said Johnson. “I look forward to working with our members to promote all that is good about New Jersey’s medical and recreational cannabis industry while we address issues and find solutions to challenges that affect our industry and operators.”
Previously, Johnson served as treasurer of the NJCTA since 2020 overseeing the association’s expenditures and maintaining a balanced budget during a time when the association was deeply immersed in outreach to educate state legislators, regulators and the public on policies needed to build the state’s legal cannabis market into an equitable, profitable industry.
Additionally, Johnson served as an NJCTA Trustee on behalf of member Justice Cannabis Co., a multi-state operator in eight states, where he served as executive vice president and head of New Jersey operations, leading the buildout and operations of the company’s New Jersey cultivation facility and dispensaries.
Johnson graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in economics and concentrations in finance and management.
