Hudson Regional Patients Receive Most Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostic Tool Available

Hudson Regional Hospital is the first acute care facility in the region to offer the most advanced 128-slice Coronary CT scanner in combination with HeartFlow, the most innovative non-invasive analytics technology for these CCTAs available, to predict and prevent heart attacks due to blockages in coronary arteries.

Secaucus-based Hudson Regional, which performed its first HeartFlow procedure earlier this month, adds this latest innovation to its diagnostic capabilities less than a year after opening its state-of-the art 10,000-square-foot Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the most cutting-edge lab of its kind in the state of New Jersey, offering the latest technology for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions.

“The CCTA imports images into an advanced image modeling software that provides a digital 3-D model of the heart depicting the real-time blood flow through a patient’s coronary arteries,” said Anuj Shah, MD, director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Hudson Regional Hospital. “When the CCTA images show a blockage, we can provide additional testing at our Cardiac chat Lab determine a course of action quickly.”

“The CCTA test is crucial for patients with chest pain when the extent and significance of the physical blockage is not readily apparent,” said Nizar Kifaieh, MD, MBA, CPE, FACEP, President & CEO of Hudson Regional Hospital. “CCTA results are generally available within one business day; a benefit to patients who have significant blockage as well as those who don’t because it means they won’t have to undergo unnecessary and potentially more invasive testing.”

Patients in need can receive a variety of minimally invasive procedures at the Cath Lab, allowing for early diagnoses, treatments, and potential life-saving procedures.

The new CCTA, together with the hospital’s Cath Lab, enhances the community and surrounding area’s cardiac services, further outlining Hudson Regional Hospital’s commitment to providing the best advancements and developments available in the medical field.

Since taking over the facility at 55 Meadowlands Parkway in 2018, Hudson Regional Hospital’s leadership team has invested $50 million in capital improvements in order to secure the most groundbreaking technologies available today.
