Horne Jr. Named President & CEO JA of New Jersey

James Horne, Jr., president & CEO of United Way of Greater Union County, has been named president & CEO of JA of New Jersey (JANJ), effective July 5.

As president & CEO of JANJ, Horne will lead the organization’s work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy outreach which impacts 87,000 K-12 students in the state.

“We are excited about the appointment of James,” stated Christine LaCroix, board chair of the JA of New Jersey board of directors. “James brings a great deal of expertise and enthusiasm for our work, and strong management skills to JA,” said LaCroix.

“I am proud and honored to have been chosen to lead this prominent organization” commented Horne. “I am passionate about equipping young people with the tools needed to become critical thinkers, challenging them to be innovative, and developing them into the leaders of tomorrow. I look forward to joining a team of highly skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers. Working together, we will ensure students experience JA’s high-quality programs to gain the skills relevant to success in their future careers and in their lives.”

Horne has over two decades of executive experience directing human service organizations and has spent the past 17 years as president & CEO of United Way of Greater Union County. During his tenure, Horne has created an extraordinary record of developing strong community partnerships, increasing organizational efficiencies, building, and retaining board members and financial competence. He has worked hard to maintain the delicate balance of dedication to mission, the need for bold entrepreneurial initiatives, and the application of sound business management needed to run a successful nonprofit organization.

With its headquarters and Capstone programs located in the JA Education Center, in Raritan Center, Edison, JANJ is a free educational resource dedicated to giving all young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success and plan for their futures.
