The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) has announced that Louis M. Belasco will become its next executive director, effective July 1. GWTIDA’s board of directors appointed Belasco on April 20, after a search was conducted to fill the position upon the retirement of long-time GWTIDA Executive Director/CFO, John Siciliano.
“I am looking forward to serving in this new role and working alongside the outstanding GWTIDA team to continue their great work in promoting the Wildwoods,” explained Belasco.
Belasco most recently served as the deputy city manager, tax assessor, floodplain manager, and CRS coordinator for City of Cape May. He has also held roles as tax assessor for Borough of West Cape May, and tax assessor and city administrator for the City of North Wildwood.
Born and raised in the Wildwoods, Belasco attended Wildwood Catholic High School and is a graduate from Drexel University, where he earned a BS in Business Administration and Management. He currently resides in Wildwood Crest with his family.
Belasco will succeed Siciliano, who is retiring on June 30 as GWTIDA executive director/CFO after twenty-seven and a half years of service. Under Siciliano’s leadership, the Wildwoods have grown into a top tourism and meetings destination. Siciliano oversaw the construction and 2002 opening of the Wildwoods Convention Center, which hosts numerous annual conventions, meetings, banquets, sports & youth events, and concerts.
“Having served GWTIDA and the Wildwoods community for the last twenty-seven and a half years has been an extremely rewarding experience for me, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am grateful for the opportunity, and I am confident that under Lou’s leadership, the Wildwoods will continue to thrive and achieve continued success,” said Siciliano.
