Grant Thornton Names Michael Bernstein as New Jersey Marketplace Partner-in-Charge

Grant Thornton LLP, Metropark, announces that Michael Bernstein is appointed as partner-in-charge of the New Jersey marketplace.

In this role Bernstein will assist local leadership in managing significant client relationships and coordinating with service line and industry leaders to bring the resources of the firm to bear in the New Jersey marketplace.

Recently, Grant Thornton relocated approximately 200 employees to new offices in Metropark from its former location at 399 Thornall St. in Edison.

“Mike is a natural to lead our market-facing activities in New Jersey as he brings extensive business experience and the highest level of client service for both public and private companies,” said Frank Kurre, Grant Thornton’s Metro New York and New England managing partner. “We have a long history of serving companies in New Jersey and, with Mike’s leadership, we’ll provide additional access to our deep national and international resources and innovative industry solutions to those growth-oriented companies across the state.”

During his 25-year tenure with Grant Thornton and more than 30 years of business experience, Bernstein has served in numerous leadership roles, including currently as the Metro New York and New England REIT practice leader and previously as Audit practice leader, professional standards partner, and international practice partner. As a client service partner, Bernstein has handled both SEC and private company audit clients and currently works with clients ranging from high-growth startups to multi-billion dollar groups, with a significant focus on middle-market organizations. His experience includes private and public offerings, business combinations, complex transactions and instruments, internal control and governance matters.

Bernstein received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from CW Post College (Long Island University). He was recently appointed as a board officer and treasurer for Young Israel of East Brunswick, a dynamic synagogue located in Central New Jersey with a membership of more than 200 families. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants and NAREIT.
