Governor Christie Announces New Chief of Staff

Governor Chris Christie today announced changes to his senior staff leadership, with Chief of Staff Regina Egea departing in the coming weeks to pursue opportunities outside of government.  Amy Cradic, currently the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Cabinet Liaison, has been named as the Governor’s next Chief of Staff.

“Regina has been a deeply valued and essential part of my administration since the first days after I took office, serving as the Chief of Staff in the Department of Treasury, before joining my senior staff directly in December 2011,” said Governor Christie. “Since that time and for the last 15 months as my Chief of Staff, Regina has provided tremendous leadership in helping manage and direct a lean and effective government and in implementing my reform priorities on behalf of the taxpayers of this state.  I thank her for devoting herself to public service to our state for more than six years, and wish her well in her future endeavors.”

Prior to joining the Governor’s office in November 2014, Regina Egea was the Director of the Governor’s Authorities Unit overseeing a wide variety of state Commissions and Authorities as well as multiple bi-state Authorities. She also had served in 2010 and 2011 as Chief of Staff to the State Treasurer, taking a lead role in developing and implementing the historic pension and benefit reforms that Governor Christie signed into law in June 2011.  Prior to joining state government, Egea also previously worked in the private sector as an executive with AT&T in Bedminster and served in local government in Harding Township from 2008 to 2011.

“I truly appreciate each of the opportunities the Governor has afforded me to serve the people of our state and alongside the dedicated public servants in Treasury, the Authorities Unit and on his direct staff,” said Egea.

Amy Cradic has more than 20 years of experience working in state government, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff of Policy since 2013. In that capacity, she managed a 15-person policy staff in Trenton and has advised the office on state and national policy matters, including taking the organizational and policy lead on the Governor’s International trade trips to Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Cradic has participated in the development and ongoing oversight of several major administration initiatives, including playing a lead role in the Governor’s Facing Addiction Task Force and initiatives aimed at bolstering the administration’s success in providing drug treatment, successful reentry services, and recidivism reduction. She was the policy lead for major agency projects, including post-storm utility infrastructure policies, information technology upgrades, Energy Master Plan updates, behavioral health delivery improvements and workforce alignment strategies.

In her capacity as Senior Policy Advisor between 2012 and 2013, Cradic supervised policy teams covering a wide range of issues, from energy and the environment to transportation and homeland security. She focused efforts on clean energy initiatives with the Board of Public Utilities and the utility industry to advance Governor Christie’s Energy Master Plan goals, and served as policy liaison for Atlantic City leading the launch of a public/private partnership to better deliver social services to the homeless through a single point of entry.

Cradic served in various capacities within the Department of Environmental Protection and the Commission on Higher Education. In her leadership role as Assistant Commissioner of Natural and Historic Resources, she oversaw programs ranging from coastal engineering and flood control to natural resource stewardship and management. She helped launch an energy efficiency statewide capital initiative and a sustainable funding effort to expand public amenities.
