Gilbane Building Company Moves to New Office in Newark’s Business District

Gilbane is growing and expanding its operations with a strategic move to Newark

Gilbane Building Company has relocated its office to the heart of Newark’s business district. Gilbane’s highly anticipated move was motivated by continued strategic growth in New Jersey and the company’s commitment to integrating into the fabric of Newark’s community as a whole.

“To have Gilbane — one of the nation’s leading construction companies —  move its New Jersey headquarters to Newark speaks volumes for the commercial growth of our city and the scope of our construction market. Gilbane’s move sends a strong signal that Newark is a welcome location for companies and their employees,” said Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark

Commonly referred to as the Newark Legal Center, Gilbane’s new extensive office is located at One Riverfront Plaza, which in the Gateway District. This strategic move is not only beneficial to Gilbane’s clients and community partners; it is also a positive change for the Gilbane team. The central location of the Gateway District provides Gilbane’s growing employee base with a more centralized hub for operations and amenities, all within a short walk of everything Newark has to offer.

“Having personally been involved in the construction of the Prudential Center, I am very excited for my family’s company move to Newark,” said William J. Gilbane III, senior vice president of the New York division of Gilbane Building Company. He added, “We are very excited about the position Newark holds in the growth of the Region.”

Gilbane’s Newark move underscores its commitment to being a builder in New Jersey and giving back to the local community. Working in New Jersey for more than 50 years, our building and development companies continue to experience year over year growth and are community builders that deliver exceptional facilities with lasting value. In Newark, we are actively managing construction projects for Newark Parking Authority, Boraie Development LLC and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Additional select clients include Celgene Corporation, County of Bergen, Hackensack University Medical Center, Kerry Ingredients & Flavors, Landmark Properties, New Jersey Schools Development Authority, Rutgers University, State of New Jersey, Summit Medical Group, and The Rockefeller Group, in addition to various Fortune 500 companies through a dedicated Corporate Interiors Group. Gilbane is also an active participant in the community through organizations such as the ACE Mentor Program of New Jersey, NJPAC’s Business Partnership, Rebuilding Together, United Way, NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Kitchen.

“Newark has great energy, tremendous resources in its diverse workforce and over 40,000 college students, and construction opportunities with a multitude of Fortune 500 Companies, three universities, cultural organizations, and a tremendous amount of planned growth in the commercial, retail and residential markets,” said Daniel J. Shea, vice president and manager of Gilbane’s New Jersey office. He added, “I am excited about our move and looking forward to getting involved in the community”

Gilbane’s employees will officially move into their new space in the Spring of 2019 and look forward to partnering with local clients and community members for many years to come.
