Flaster Greenberg Launches Sports Law Practice Group

Cherry Hill-based Flaster Greenberg, a mid-sized commercial law firm, has launched its Sports Law Practice Group in partnership with its Business and Corporate Law, Insurance Counseling & Recovery, Intellectual Property, Litigation, and Labor & Employment Departments.

The firm’s Sports Law Practice Group offers the sophisticated and focused services of attorneys who understand the unique challenges clients in the sports industry face on a daily basis.

Jeffrey A. Cohen, chair of the firm’s litigation department, said, “Our firm is excited to launch our Sports Law Practice Group. The synergy between our attorneys who share a love for a variety of sports in their private lives and serve athletes, sports personalities, professional organizations, universities, coaches, and front office personnel professionally is a major win for our clients. Our Sports Law Practice Group is comprised of a talented team of attorneys who are eager to put their resources into an official practice group. The team is well-equipped to provide sophisticated legal advice and practical assistance to professionals facing legal issues in the world of sports and we look forward to helping them.”

The attorneys who make up our Sports Law Practice Group have decades of experience representing companies in different types of sports and hail from a variety of legal fields and backgrounds—including business and corporate law, insurance counseling and recovery, intellectual property, litigation, and labor and employment. They serve as the trusted legal advisors to professional and amateur athletes, coaches, owners, executives, leagues, universities/colleges, teams, manufacturers, distributors, licensors, and vendors.

“Formalizing our Sports Law Practice Group is exciting for the firm and my practice. It has been a blast combining my experience and passion for women’s sports with my law practice. It’s also wonderful to see our crew heavily embedded in the women’s sports space. We have our thumb on the pulse of the industry and offer the players, professionals, and organizations necessary legal counsel to ensure their success,” adds Susie Cirilli, labor and employment shareholder.

Flaster Greenberg Sports Law Practice Group lawyers counsel clients on routine and complex business issues and personnel policies and procedures; draft, negotiate, and secure agreements and contracts (employment, vendor, licensing, sponsor, executive); defend and enforce intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, copyrights, name, image, likeness); evaluate insurance coverage and liability claims; represent individuals in litigation matters, and more.
