First Facility at National Aviation Research and Technology Park Completed

New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), a New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) corporation, recently celebrated the opening of the first building in the Aviation Research and Technology Park (NARTP).  The NARTP, through the leadership of NJII’s office of Economic, Cluster, and Client Development is a key component of the developing aviation and aerospace innovation hub being developed in Atlantic County.

The ceremonial event attracted over 250 attendees including Governor Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney, former Congressman Frank LoBiondo, Assemblyman Vincent Mazzeo and Assemblyman John Armato.

Keynote speakers included Governor Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney, and NJII President Dr. Donald Sebastian.

“These are the types of projects we need to be investing in all over our state. The National Aviation Research and Technology Park will help to make New Jersey an innovative leader in aviation technology,” said Senate President Sweeney.  “This premiere facility for aviation technology will provide important benefits for the entire region, and create much needed economic growth for both Atlantic City and South Jersey. The jobs created here will involve modern technology that will fuel the regional economy.”

Once completed, NARTP will comprise seven buildings with 400,000 square feet of research and development space. Among the tenants in the new building are General Dynamics Information Technology, Thunderbolt Software, and the FAA LIFT Lab. The building also offers space for small business incubators for aviation-related startups.

Current NARTP partners include Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, National Institute of Aerospace, Stockton University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rowan University, Atlantic Cape Community College and the Atlantic County Institute of Technology.
