Eric G. Fikry Named President-Elect of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey

Blank Rome LLP announces that Eric G. Fikry was named president-elect of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (APALA-NJ), and will be sworn in at the APALA-NJ Annual Installation Gala on June 30, 2015, of which Blank Rome is proud to be a sponsor.

Fikry is a long-standing and active member of the APALA-NJ, previously serving as the association’s vice president for the 2010-2011 term and most recently as a member of APALA-NJ’s Board of Directors. In June 2014, he received the APALA-NJ’s Professional Achievement Award, which is presented to Asian Pacific American lawyers for their professional accomplishments and contributions to the law firm or company where they work, as well as in recognition of service to the New Jersey Asian Pacific American legal community.

At Blank Rome, Fikry is a partner in the commercial litigation practice group, representing clients in a wide variety of business disputes and employment litigation matters. He also has extensive experience representing companies in the casino gaming industry, including several that have been issued transactional waivers in New Jersey, authorizing them to be among the first to offer legal, online casino gaming within the United States.

Fikry was selected as one of The Legal Intelligencer’s “Lawyers on the Fast Track” in 2012 and one of the New Jersey Law Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2010. He holds leadership roles in several bar associations, serving on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (“NJSBA”) Board of Trustees on behalf of the Casino Law Section, as well as past chair of the NJSBA’s Casino Law Section. He was also recently appointed to serve as the chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Gaming Law Committee, and is the first vice president of the Camden County Bar Association.

Mr. Fikry is actively involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives for various organizations. He is a member of Blank Rome’s Diversity Committee and was selected by the Firm to be a member of the 2013 Class of Fellows for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. He is chair of the Camden County Bar Foundation’s President’s Commission on Diversity, and previously served as a co-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Diversity Committee. In 2011, Mr. Fikry was recognized by the Rutgers-Camden Asian Pacific American Law Students Association for his efforts in promoting diversity and supporting the Asian American legal community.
