Developers Sudler Companies and GTJ REIT completed the construction and interior design on a 150,000-square foot facility into the new warehouse, office and distribution center of international art supplier Colart’s new North American headquarters in Piscataway.
Colart, who’s art history goes back to the 1400’s and includes Picasso, Andy Warhol and David Hockney among its many famous clients, has been at 11 Constitution Avenue in Corporate Park 287 since the early 1980’s with Sudler Companies as its original landlord until GTJ REIT bought the building in 2016.
In 2018, when Colart needed a larger, more modern facility, GTJ REIT suggested the 2 Corporate Place South location within the same corporate park for its next multi-generational home. Sudler demolished the previous office building in 2018 to accommodate Colart’s need to stay in Piscataway.
“All at Colart are extremely excited to invest in keeping our North American headquarters in Piscataway, New Jersey, said Dennis van Schie, CEO for Colart. “This new facility provides a better working environment for all our employees in the distribution center and offices and allows us to better support both the future growth plans and our customers and consumers across North America”.
“We’re glad to be serving Colart again and appreciate GTJ REIT as a great partner in facilitating this transaction,” said Peter Sudler, President and CEO of Sudler Companies. “While interest in office space as waned over the past decade, this area along the 287 Corridor has gained popularity for warehouse facilities.”
This Wed., May 15th, Senator Bob Smith and Mayor Brian Wahler will joined Sudler Companies and GTJ REIT to officially welcome Colart into its new home with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by live music on a painted piano that is part of a sponsorship of the Sing for Hope charity by the Colart brand Liquitex. The piano’s theme is New Jersey, and the scenes for each surface where chosen by Colart’s Piscataway staff to celebrate The Garden State’s robust farming history.
Corporate Park 287 features 2.5 million square feet of office, data center and warehouse space on 200 acres on the 287 Corridor in New Jersey, close to the NJ Turnpike and Parkway and within 50 miles of New York City.
