Chairman Brian McAuley inducted into Wireless Hall of Fame

Woodland Park-based pdvWireless, a private wireless carrier dedicated to serving dispatch-centric businesses and critical infrastructure companies, announced that Chairman Brian McAuley was inducted into the Wireless Hall of Fame on September 8, 2015.

The co-founder of Nextel Communications, McAuley is a world-class entrepreneur who has made numerous contributions to the wireless industry over the years. Most recently, he was president and CEO of NeoWorld Communications, a company he founded in 1999 and sold to Nextel Communications in January 2003. Prior to NeoWorld, McAuley co-founded Nextel Communications and served as President from 1987 to 1995. At both NeoWorld and Nextel, McAuley was instrumental in developing financing and business plans, making acquisitions, raising capital, and executing day-to-day operations.

Prior to Nextel, McAuley served as CFO of Millicom Incorporated, a company formed to participate in the initial cellular telephone licensing process and subsequent operations. Other career experiences include Vice President of Robert’s Foods, Corporate Controller of Norton Simon, Inc. and a Manager at the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. McAuley has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Adelphi University, is a certified public accountant and a member of various finance and telecommunications industry organizations, and has been a frequent lecturer at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

“I am deeply honored and proud to be joining an esteemed group of visionaries including John Kelly, Larry Movshin and Sue Swenson into the Wireless Hall of Fame,” said McAuley. “It has been very thrilling and rewarding to work in this industry from its infancy and to help change and improve the way people across the world communicate.”

The Wireless Hall of Fame Program, hosted by the Wireless History Foundation (WHF), provides public recognition of outstanding individuals and achievement across all disciplines of the wireless industry. Induction into the Wireless Hall of Fame is one of the industry’s highest honors, acknowledging the leadership, innovation and achievement of each honoree. The 2015 Wireless Hall of Fame Dinner, held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, provided an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of wireless with those who launched the industry and those who are shaping it today.
