CEO of Marketsmith Receives Diversity First Award at National Diversity Council Event

Monica C. Smith, founder and CEO of Marketsmith Inc., was the featured speaker at this year’s 2017 Tri-State Diversity and Leadership Conference, hosted by the National Diversity Council, where she was presented with the organization’s prestigious Diversity First AwardTM.

The 7th Annual Conference provided a platform for dialogue on inclusion and diversity-related issues that impact this region. Smith’s focus as keynote speaker was on overcoming barriers to inclusion: “Two decades ago I was fired for coming out at a company where I was the highest revenue producer,” said Smith. “When you have been fired for being who you are, the sting may dull over time, but it never quite goes away.”

Marketsmith is a nationally certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBENC), as well as a certified LGBT Business Enterprise® (LGBTBE) by the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce® (NGLCC).
