CCC Trustee Elected Chair of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges

Camden County College Trustee Helen Albright has been elected chair of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, the state association for New Jersey’s 19 community colleges.

In her role as NJCCC chair, the Gloucester Township resident also will chair the seven-member NJCCC Executive Committee. The Executive Committee includes four community college trustees and three community college presidents, and Albright will work with them to help shape statewide community college policies and projects. These include implementation of the Strategic Goals for Student Success, collective efforts of all 19 community colleges to improve student completion in associate degree and certificate programs.

Albright has been a member of the Camden County College Board of Trustees since 2006. She is a proud alumna of Camden County College and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community college students. Previously, Albright served as a member of the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders and as vice president of the Gloucester Township Council.

“I am honored to have been elected chair of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges by the community college trustees and presidents who make up the organization,” Albright said. “I very much look forward to working with the members on ways to better serve our present and future community college students as they work to realize their hopes and dreams.”

Camden County College President Raymond Yannuzzi is one of the three presidents serving with Albright on the Executive Committee. The other two are Cumberland County College President Thomas Isekenegbe and Union County College President Margaret McMenamin. The other trustee members of the Executive Committee are Thomas Tighe of Middlesex County College, who is vice chair; Catherine McVicker of Raritan Valley Community College; and Bakari G. Lee of Hudson County Community College.

The NJCCC is an independent, trustee-headed organization that joins the leadership of trustees and presidents to provide a voice for the community college sector before the state legislature and other branches of government. It also is the state coordinating organization for all community colleges in New Jersey.
