Byrnes Elevated to Executive Vice President / Deputy CFO at Kearny Bank

Verona resident Sean Byrnes has been elevated by Kearny Bank to the position of executive vice president / deputy chief financial officer. Byrnes, who’s based at the bank’s Fairfield corporate office, will assume a larger role in strategy development, investor relations, and balance sheet management.

Previously Kearny Bank’s senior vice president / chief accounting officer, he’ll continue to be responsible for corporate accounting, including income tax, financial and regulatory reporting, financial planning and analysis, accounting policy, and the allowance for credit losses.

“This expansion of Sean’s responsibilities is a reflection of his outstanding leadership qualities and effectiveness at managing our corporate finance function,” explains Keith Suchodolski, senior executive vice president / chief financial officer. “I wish Sean success in his expanded role and look forward to working closely with him in these strategically important areas.”

A Pace University graduate with a Master of Business Administration, Byrnes earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Ithaca College. He’s a certified public accountant (New Jersey) and a CFA (chartered financial analyst) charter holder.

Byrnes is also a member of the board of directors for the Associated Humane Societies based in Newark.
