Black Ladies of Construction Launches Capital Fund to Acquire & Develop Properties

The Black Ladies of Construction (BLOC) Society has announced the launch of the BLOC Capital Fund, advancing the organization’s mission to close the gap in real estate development for women of color. Based in Elizabeth, the BLOC Society is a network of women dedicated to transforming communities by empowering Black and Brown women through real estate. It has invested in more than 21 projects since 2021 throughout the Tri-State Area totaling more than $9 million in revenues.

The BLOC Capital Fund presents itself as a unique investment opportunity through the purchase of Debt Unit Interests in high-demand regions. This build-and-sell strategy should allow the fund to capture significant value at every stage, from land acquisition to the sale of completed homes.

“The launch of The BLOC Capital Fund marks a critical milestone in the ongoing effort to diversify the real estate development space and make opportunities accessible to women of color. Organizations like The BLOC Society are breaking down long-standing barriers and empowering women to take on leadership roles in a sector where they have historically been underrepresented,” said Natasha Davis, the organization’s CEO. “The BLOC Capital Fund is about more than just financial returns; it’s about empowering women of color to take ownership of an industry that has long excluded them. This fund is designed to drive real change, making the real estate sector more reflective of the diverse communities it serves.”

The investment strategy for The BLOC Capital Fund is built around the timely execution of real estate projects, though external factors such as market fluctuations and unforeseen conditions may impact the timeline for project completion.

“Our primary goal is to maintain transparency and foster open communication with our investor partners, ensuring that our strategies are closely aligned with their financial objectives,” said William Johnson, fund manager. “The management team of The BLOC Capital Fund brings decades of combined experience in real estate development, construction management, and property sales. With our seasoned professionals overseeing every stage of the project lifecycle, investors can trust that each development will receive hands-on, meticulous oversight from start to finish.”
