BioNJ Announces Launch of The Academy at BioNJ

Stemming from the new mission, vision and strategic initiatives it outlined in November, BioNJ, The Gateway to Health, today announced the launch of The Academy at BioNJ.

With a focus on professional training and development, The Academy’s mission is to ensure that employers have access to exceptional programs and resources that will serve to keep New Jersey’s talent pool contemporary, creative and competitive. The Academy serves as the center for professional development in New Jersey’s vibrant life sciences industry, providing access to innovative and important training opportunities for employers and professionals, delivered by industry-recognized training experts.

The Academy is part of a platform of talent services offered by BioNJ to life sciences industry Members and potential members.  BioNJ works directly with employers and a talented pool of industry professionals to provide sourcing and recruiting services, resume and job opportunities databases, specialty services designed to help companies market themselves to the local talent pool, transition programs during periods of restructuring, career coaching and human resources networking opportunities.

Joining BioNJ as training partners in The Academy are BioMentorz, Gilman Performance Systems, Leadership Edge, LifeCollaborative and Rutgers University. Member companies – and employees of Member companies – will benefit from discounted pricing and preferred seating at highly sought after programs.

Opportunities for Professional Growth

Employers and professionals can access specialized programs such as Project Management, Leadership, Market Access, Biopharmaceutical Innovation, Healthcare Policy, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Team Development, Sales, Customer Service, Business Development, Partnering and Finance and more. There is also the opportunity for companies to customize programs and host sessions at their location, or to enroll employees in public programs. Online training courses are also being offered.

Programs already scheduled through The Academy include “Soup to Nuts – Doing Deals, Funding & More!” presented by the experts at BioMentorz, which focuses on how companies can obtain and negotiate funding and effectively explore partnering opportunities.  Interested professionals can sign up for either of the two-day session or for both days, scheduled for March 19 and 20, 2015.  The second program offered will be “From the Laboratory to Leadership,” a total immersion program to train scientists and technical staff on leadership skills, scheduled to begin on January 26, 2015. LifeCollaborative offers a series of online training options on a variety of topics, which can be purchased by individual classes or as a monthly, online subscription. Rutgers University will open registration in January for executive training on multiple topics including health policy, supply chain and leadership.

The rebranding was supported by the launch of a revitalized website at www.BioNJ.org that is clear and simple to navigate, and represents the determination of BioNJ to help move the life sciences industry forward.

In addition to The Academy at BioNJ, the new initiatives announced by BioNJ include:

•         Bolstering an already robust life sciences cluster in New Jersey by creating an interconnected base of region-wide research and development assets that will serve as a nexus of innovation.

•         Fostering entrepreneurship and funding programs that will help develop and support a continuous flow of new companies.

•         Increasing BioNJ’s public policy advocacy programs and enhancing communication with patient advocacy groups so that the voice of the patient and his or her family has an even stronger presence in our community.

•         Advocating for innovation in medical research by promoting a dialog that examines how breakthroughs, such as those in cancer therapy, contribute to society by saving and extending lives and reducing overall medical costs.

•         Working from one of New Jersey’s greatest strengths, promoting the State’s expertise in conducting clinical trials and drug development as a key differentiating factor for the region and facilitating the expansion of additional trials in the State.
