Bergen New Bridge Medical Center recently cut the ribbon on its new Depression Center of Excellence in Paramus, which was established to improve and streamline the delivery of care for patients and their loved ones. Working as a team, the Center’s psychiatrists, residents, psychologists, social workers, and administrative staff will conduct a comprehensive assessment, provide a diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan.
“Depression impacts an estimated 21 million Americans making it one of the most common mental illnesses impacting adults today,” said Deborah Visconi, president & CEO, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “Some patients do not find medication to be a helpful resource in managing their symptoms and alternative treatment options may be the most effective for them. With the opening of the Center, we are expanding access to lifesaving care by providing these treatments to patients with Medicare and Medicaid.”
“Mental health challenges, especially depression, can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance,” said James Tedesco, Bergen County Executive. “With this new center, we are reaffirming our commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring that every person has access to the care and support they deserve, without fear of judgment.”
