BASF’s Catalysts Division Establishes New Global Headquarters in Iselin

BASF’s Catalysts division has announced the signing of a long-term occupancy lease for a new global headquarters facility at 33 Wood Avenue in Iselin.

As the anchor tenant, the Catalysts business will occupy approximately 60,000 square feet of the 33 Wood Avenue facility, including three floors of office space as well as a portion of the first floor, which will house a visitor welcome area.

The Catalysts division, which was formed in 2006 with BASF’s acquisition of Engelhard Corporation, has maintained its global headquarters and its primary North American research & development presence in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township, for more than 45 years.  For the past three years, to accommodate its continued growth, the Catalysts business has also leased a single floor of office space at the 101 Wood Avenue office building in Iselin.

In December 2015, the Catalysts business will begin the process of relocating its headquarters operation and staff to the 33 Wood Avenue site, which will house approximately 240 BASF team members and provide room for additional growth. BASF will continue to operate its existing company-owned facilities at 25 Middlesex-Essex Turnpike in Iselin, using the office space for future expansion activities, while it will exit its leased space at the 101 Wood Avenue location.

“We are delighted to maintain our global headquarters in Iselin, where our Catalysts team has delivered countless innovations and driven strong business growth for many years,” said Catalysts division President Kenneth Lane. “We are proud to call Iselin our home, and look forward to bringing our entire headquarters team together again in a single office environment while maintaining close proximity to our existing local R&D operations and team.”

“Woodbridge Township welcomes BASF’s Catalysts division – and more than 240 of its local team members – to their new global headquarters in Iselin,“ said Woodbridge Township Mayor John E. McCormac. “BASF’s decision to maintain Iselin as its home base stands as an epic milestone for Woodbridge Township and for our regional economy. It is through our combined commitment and partnership with BASF that we are proud to say that we are home to the world’s leading supplier of environmental and process catalysts.“
