Barclays Announces Transition of 500 Jobs to Whippany

Barclays announced that it will relocate approximately 500 jobs from its offices in Wilmington, Delaware, to its new, state-of-the art campus in Whippany where they will join nearly 1,900 colleagues currently working at the facility.

The announcement is aligned with Barclays’ Global Chief Operating Office location strategy, which is focused on developing large-scale regional hubs around the world that enable operations and technology teams to work collaboratively and efficiently in order to deliver superior outcomes for customers, clients and shareholders.

“Wilmington has long-served as, and will continue to be, the strategic headquarters for Barclays’ US consumer banking division,” said Barry Rodrigues, chief executive officer, Cards and Payments, Barclays. “We continue to invest in our Wilmington headquarters and Whippany campus to support our fast-growing consumer business. In addition, we remain steadfast in our commitment to support the community through our philanthropic efforts, partnering with non-profit organizations to help make a positive impact in the lives of Delawareans and New Jerseyans every day.”

Transitions to the Whippany campus will begin this fall, completing by the end of the year, and relocation assistance will be provided to those moving. Colleagues who do not relocate will be offered a full range of transition services including severance and outplacement support, such as job search assistance, resume writing and interviewing skills.

Barclays US Consumer Bank is one of the fastest-growing credit card issuers in the United States. As the country’s 9th largest issuer with 13 million customers, $26 billion in card loans and $15 billion in retail deposits, the business continues to pursue an ambitious growth strategy in the US consumer banking and payments market.
