Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum has announced that AvSTEM Day has been selected as the NJ STEM Month 2024 Collaboration of the Year. This accolade, awarded by the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network, recognizes organizations that collaborate to deliver exceptional STEM programming, both locally and beyond. AvSTEM is short for the study within the fields of Aviation, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
The collaboration, which also includes the Federal Aviation Administration William J Hughes Technical Center Aviation STEM Program and Cape May Airport Operations, has been honored for its outstanding efforts in promoting STEM education. The joint initiative to organize AvSTEM Student Day at the Aviation Museum provided Cape May County students with a unique opportunity to delve into Cape May County’s rich aviation history while exploring the exciting prospects of future aviation technologies.
“We are deeply honored to receive the NJ STEM Month 2024 Collaboration of the Year award,” said Austin Myers, events & communications manager at Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum. “This recognition underscores the importance of collaboration in advancing STEM education and inspiring the next generation of innovators.”
The Aviation Museum, along with its collaborators, are excited to again host local schools for AvSTEM Day in 2024. In addition to its award-winning collaborations, NASW is excited to announce its plans to open up exhibit space on the 2nd floor of the hangar with a focus on STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. This new exhibit space will provide visitors with interactive and engaging experiences that highlight the intersection of these disciplines, fostering creativity and innovation among learners of all ages.
