Applications for NJ Wind Turbine Tech Training Challenge Now Available

The application for the NJ Wind Turbine Tech Training Challenge offered by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) is now available on NJEDA.com. The Challenge seeks solutions to establish an industry-recognized certificate training program to prepare New Jerseyans for careers as offshore wind turbine technicians, a high-growth, high-wage profession that is integral to the growth of the State’s offshore wind sector. Through this Challenge, the NJEDA will solicit applications from New Jersey’s community colleges and their collaborators and select a winning application for a grant of up to $1 million to support implementation.

Applicants must submit applications electronically by July 23 at 5:00 p.m. EDT, by emailing the complete application to [email protected]. The required cover sheet and NJEDA budget template are posted here.

The NJEDA board approved the creation of the NJ Wind Turbine Tech Training Challenge during its May 12 board meeting. Supported by funding from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and aligned with Gov. Phil Murphy’s WIND Council recommendations, the NJ Wind Turbine Tech Training Challenge must result in an industry-recognized, credit-bearing certificate program that is part of a pathway to an Associate degree or higher.
