The American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association (ASSA) announced that Patrick Marotta, president and CEO of Marotta Controls, Inc., has been appointed to the ASSA Board of Directors.
Patrick Marotta began his career at Marotta Controls in 1998, gaining hands‐on knowledge of all aspects of the business by serving in multiple disciplines throughout the company including Operations and Business Development. He transitioned to president and COO in 2009 and began shaping the business for the next generation.
In 2015, Patrick was appointed president and chief executive officer, where he continues to lead and expand the company to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. “Patrick is devoted to the mission of the US shipbuilding industry,” stated Stephen Cobb, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASSA. “Patrick has led the charge at Marotta to create new and advanced technologies that further promote the performance and competitiveness of our US defense.” Patrick is responsible for driving Marotta’s core technical competency beyond its legacy fluid control products to include electronics, power conversion technologies and control actuation systems.
This technology diversification has enabled Marotta to better serve its customers as they incorporate new control architecture and modernize legacy platforms. At the same time, Patrick led Marotta to incorporate lean principles and value key engineering and manufacturing processes. Improved quality, on‐time performance and competitiveness are a direct result of these efforts.
Under his leadership, Marotta Controls has achieved some of the highest honors awarded to a small business, such as being named the US Small Business Administration’s Regional Small Business of the Year as well as a Lockheed Martin Supplier of the Year.
Patrick is a member of the Advisory Council on Small Business and Agriculture at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, he serves on the Board of Governors for the Aerospace Industries Association, and represents the Company at the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, in addition to now serving on the Board of Directors for the American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association.
Patrick is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Systems Engineering.
