Irene Kropp Joins Langan

Parsippany-based Langan Engineering & Environmental Services has announced the addition of Irene Kropp to the firm as senior environmental consultant. Kropp, a leader in the New Jersey environmental community, brings 30 years of regulatory, technical, administrative, and management experience in all areas of environmental protection to Langan’s environmental practice, according to the company.

Prior to joining Langan, Kropp served as the deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Additionally, she managed multiple offices in the NJDEP including Water Resources, Compliance and Enforcement, Information Resources Management, Management and Budget, and Science and Site Remediation. She has worked closely with other state agencies, the legislature, local governments, the USEPA, other state environmental agencies, developers, corporations, and many New Jersey business and industry associations.

“We at Langan are honored to have Irene Kropp join our firm,” said Nick De Rose, the managing principal who leads Langan’s environmental practice. “Having a leader of Irene’s caliber on board complements and strengthens our reputation for providing strategic environmental advocacy.”

Throughout her NJDEP career, Kropp worked in most of the agency’s programs, including spearheading the Site Remediation Program which led to the enactment the Site Remediation Reform Act and the development of the Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) Program.

“I have always been most impressed with Langan, in particular Nick De Rose and Jorge Berkowitz, both of whom were seminal in bringing the highly successful LSRP program to New Jersey,” said Kropp. “It is exciting to now be part of Langan as an environmental consultant working on important projects around the state. I also enjoy mentoring the firm’s next generation of environmental consultants, who are already making an incredibly positive impact on New Jersey’s environment and economy, which I have always believed not to be mutually exclusive.”
