Unique Manufacturers: Web-Cote Industries

History: Founded in 1986 in Newark, by Ronald Grabowski and Zygmunt “Ziggy” Chojnacki, Web-Cote Industries specializes in adhesive products. The name “Web-Cote” reflects the company’s use of web presses to coat continuous rolls of materials with adhesives. Early offerings included adhesive-coated hook and loop tape, specialty films for oil filters, depilatory tapes, screw seal tape for RVs and boats, and pantry moth traps.Web-Cote moved to Franklin and built a larger facility in Hardyston Township in 1992 to support growth. By the late 1990s and early 2000s, the company focused on pest control, developing various glue traps and becoming an exclusive private label manufacturer.

Web-Cote began supplying glue traps to the Latin American professional distribution market and produced turnkey products for retail distributors, including Roxide International. In 2006, as Grabowski and Chojnacki approached retirement, Roxide owner James Cowen acquired Web-Cote. The company would then transition to manufacturing private label glue products for the pest control industry.

In 2024, Susan Masciarelli purchased the company, making it 100% woman-owned, with a focus on reducing lead times, lowering costs, and enhancing efficiency.

Product Range: Web-Cote produces various glue traps for multiple markets, particularly the professional pest control industry. Its specialty glue boards are widely used in restaurants, hospitals, and warehouses. In agriculture, it creates adhesive-coated materials for crop and livestock protection. It also manufactures insect and pest traps for national retail brands.

Growth and Challenges: Recently, the company hired Al Cristantiello as the new director of sales to enhance its private label offerings for national retailers. As a woman-owned business, Web-Cote is pursuing certification to access more government and military contracts. However, the company faces challenges in hiring and labor. Additionally, competition from states with lower minimum wages complicates pricing strategies. Despite these challenges, Web-Cote sees opportunities for growth through grant programs from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.
