Savvy Marketers

This innovative company’s goal is to make a positive impact on others.

It takes more than just determination and dedication to start a successful business from the ground up. Alexandra Michelle Gonzalez, CEO and founder of Savvy Marketers LLC, is a living embodiment of the many traits necessary to not only start a company, but to ensure that it flourishes and makes an impact on others.

Coming from a family of immigrants, Gonzalez paved her way to a robust 26-year career in the marketing industry, which saw her serve in various roles including executive positions at companies such as ERGObaby and Johnson & Johnson. While she was clearly successful during this time, she wanted to make an even bigger impact.

“I had an epiphany,” Gonzalez says. “I fought so hard for my children and I wanted to do something that could have a bigger impact – not only what I do, but also for other people.”

That epiphany led Gonzalez to take what she calls “the biggest risk of her life” and start her own company. She began making phone calls to individuals who she had created professional connections with over the years, and Savvy Marketers – a name that perfectly describes Gonzalez – was born.

The company officially rolled out in January of 2012, with Gonzalez operating it from her home for the first few years, before eventually opening an office, first in Lawrenceville, and now in Princeton.

“I had a vision of creating innovation labs. I wanted a creative space that would allow our clients, consumers and my team to ignite creativity. That was extremely important to me,” she says.

The current Princeton headquarters boasts 8,000 square feet of space, with 10 innovation labs. The modern, colorful and inviting layout was all designed by Gonzalez herself, who proudly proclaims Savvy Marketers as having the “coolest offices in New Jersey.”

Aside from raw marketing, Savvy Marketers provides an array of other services as well. The company trains individuals in design thinking and is certified by Stanford University. The company also provides training and development services, in depth competitive analysis, biometrics and sentiment analysis, creates mobile apps for clients, has 3D printers on site, and more.

“One of the most important things for me is to drive value to people. I want to give them a space where they can be themselves and be great at what they do,” Gonzalez says.

Savvy Marketers has 12 full-time employees, as well as four interns, and some of its clients include Bayer, Claritin, Merck, Neutrogena, Trojan and PepsiCo.

“It’s not only about our clients or employees, but it’s also about our communities,” says Gonzalez, who points to her company’s involvement in March of Dimes as one example of its community involvement.

“At the end of the day, what inspires me is helping to transform businesses, brands, people and communities,” she says.
