For business owners today, embracing new technologies and adapting one’s business to the rapid pace of change brought on by the digital revolution is no longer a choice but a necessity. While new technologies present challenges, they also provide companies with unprecedented growth opportunities that were never before possible.

Edison-based Orion Business Innovation is an IT services and solutions company that helps its clients navigate and adjust to these new technologies, user devices, and methods of interaction through providing breakthroughs in the digital space.

Simply put, Orion helps companies achieve business transformation when looking through the lens of technology.

“With a consultative approach and solutions-driven mindset, we reinvent your business processes with new and better ways of working. We do this by enabling the use of enterprise data, the cloud and digital technologies,” says Raj Patil, president and CEO of Orion Business Innovation. “Our clients look to us for integrated solutions and platforms that bridge the gaps that exist across digital, social and physical economies.”

“We want to be that partner that solves complex business problems, but we want to do it in a very pragmatic and achievable way,” Patil adds. “These are strong, embedded relationships [with our clients] and [oftentimes] long, multi-year journeys.”

Orion was founded in 1993 – around the same time as the widespread adaptation of the internet – and now has more than 3,000 employees worldwide. In addition to its locations in North America, the company has more than a dozen offshore delivery centers including locations in India and Europe. The company underwent a rebranding in 2016 when Patil took the helm, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018.

Orion’s services span that of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced data analytics and automation, with clients ranging from large enterprise customers across the financial and professional services to communications and media, professional sports and entertainment, education and healthcare industries.

Patil says that the company has been able to leverage its unique position of being a mid-sized company in the space, being flexible to meet its diverse array of clients’ needs the same way a small startup would be able to, and at the same time, having the technological prowess of a large IT company.

“There is a need for a new breed of players – meaning in addition to bringing the technical capability and expertise – it’s about bringing that combination of certain maturities and skill to be able to work with large enterprises while also being very nimble,” he explains.
