NJBIA Honored During Trenton Business Week

 Association recognized for new headquarters

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) was honored with a Small Business and Creative Marketing Award for the Most Improved Appearance, for NJBIA’s new headquarters on 10 West Lafayette Street. This award was presented at an October 20 breakfast that kicked-off Trenton Business Week (TBW).

“We are extremely excited to receive this award,” said NJBIA President Michele Siekerka. “We are proud to be a member of the Trenton community and even more pleased that we were able to locate our new headquarters in the capital district.

“In deciding where to locate our building, it was very important that the association stay in the city where we have been for decades. Reinvesting in the redevelopment of the Capital City was at the forefront of our minds. We are excited to be a part of Trenton Business Week and honored to be recognized for making a positive contribution to the city,” Siekerka said.

Accompanied by a group of additional, accomplished business leaders and entrepreneurs who received separate awards for their work, Mayor Eric Jackson kicked-off TBW on October 16.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of economic development and urban revitalization,” Jackson said. “Trenton has the potential to be a new frontier of investment and economic opportunity in the 21st century that is being shaped by the type of people standing beside me. The city has been built, in part, through their hard work and commitment, and – in many ways – they hold Trenton’s future in their hands.”

NJBIA cut the ribbon on its new 23,000-square-foot headquarters in September of 2013, turning a small parking lot into a new and modern four-story office building. NJBIA’s headquarters had been located at Willow and State Streets since the 1980s.

“Our new headquarters gives us the tools we need to represent our 20,000-plus member companies,” Siekerka said. “Trenton is the perfect location for us. It is centrally located, so it is accessible to members from one end of New Jersey to the other. Being in the state capital allows us to have maximum impact on improving the state’s business climate; we are within earshot of breaking news and government actions, and the location gives us the needed visibility to remind our state’s policy makers of the strength of our membership.”
