On the brink of its 20th anniversary, the New Jersey Tech Council (NJTC) continues its mission of assisting entrepreneurs and business leaders in various tech and life sciences sectors.

Founded in 1996, the NJTC is a private, not-for-profit membership organization. It is among the largest and most respected trade associations of its kind nationwide, with a mission of providing education, networking, resources, recognition and advocacy for the state and region’s tech businesses. By collectively representing tech and life science companies and organizations, and the service companies that support them, the Council has the unique ability to: offer opportunities to learn and network; provide access to resources, including financing sources; recognize and promote technological innovation and accomplishment; and support public policy consistent to help strengthen the tech, innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

The Council holds quarterly educational and networking programs in five industry verticals: IT/Software; Telecom/Media; Life Sciences/MedTech; Electronics, Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chain; and Environment/Energy/Engineering. It also offers exclusive peer forums for CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, Software Engineering Leaders and Innovation Leaders.

The Tech Council boasts some of the most dynamic conferences in the region, including the Innovation Forecast and Venture Conference, which attract hundreds of entrepreneurs and investors with great ideas and capital to invest. Other events include the Leadership Summit, HealthTech Conference and FinTech. These events are fabulous connectors and grow every year with new faces, innovations and technology.

Additional programs include: the Internet of Things Conference, the Global Commercialization Conference, which emphasizes collaboration at every level between industry and academia; and regularly scheduled technology competitions and summits, which give members the opportunity to show their wares to the community.

The NJ Tech Council Executive Leadership Summit assembles New Jersey’s best and brightest high-tech and life science executives for insightful discussions, engaging and successful speakers and practical advice for managing a more profitable company.

The Council also believes members should be spotlighted and recognized for their contributions to the state and region’s technology community. To that end, the NJ Tech Council Awards Celebration, which has been called the premier networking event in New Jersey, brings together hundreds of the technology elite in the region to celebrate the “Best of the Year” awards. Each year, the NJ Tech Council names CEO and CIO of the Year and financial executives are lauded at the CFO Awards Breakfast each Spring.

Jumpstart NJ, cofounded by the Council in 2004, is the region’s most successful network of angel investors. The group is made up of high net-worth individual investors collaborating on deals. As of September 2014, it has invested over $40 million. The Council launched the NJTC Venture Fund in 2001, an $80-million early stage fund dedicated to growing technology right here in New Jersey. The fund is fully deployed, having invested in 37 companies.
