A Complying Company

Zinc Ahead increases customer productivity with cloud-based solution.

With regulations in the life sciences industries constantly changing across the world, medical compliance software company Zinc Ahead aims to increase customer productivity and return on investment with its cloud-based compliance management solution.

Headquarted in Oxford, United Kingdom, and with several locations throughout the world – including a New Jersey location in Princeton – Zinc Ahead works with life sciences companies to streamline process efficiency for improved content quality and compliance accuracy in the development and deployment of promotional marketing content.

“We deal with clients that have products where, for example, there is an important ethical and safety association between the claims they are making about what the products do and what they actually deliver,” says David Bennett, president, global sales and marketing at Zinc. “We have 50,000 users at more than 165 companies – in approximately 170 countries – that use our system every day.”

The company’s software has three key elements: “Zinc MAPS – a workflow tool that aids collaboration, approval and review of the various stages in the promotional marketing process; Zinc DAM – a digital asset management system that stores approved materials and documents; and Zinc Connections – the integration network that enables interaction with external systems.

“A key part of our software is that it allows marketers of life sciences companies to collaborate with medical and legal professionals to make sure an advertisement, promotional piece or the medical information of their products is compliant with the regulations of a particular country and/or region,” Bennett says. “And, with the ever-changing regulations, we help make it simpler and faster for our clients.”

Zinc’s Princeton location – which it established approximately three years ago – houses engineers, marketing professionals and a customer service call center. Bennett says the company wanted a New Jersey presence because it likes being in close proximity to its clients.

“We tend to be located where our customers are, and what better location to be than in New Jersey, as it is a hub for the life sciences,” he says. “We have a customer success team in the state where we visit our clients and advise them on how to use the system and how they can improve their productivity. We are a very customer-orientated company and it is how we have continually been able to grow.”

Bennett says the company has grown 100 percent year over year and has been recently named a winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the “UK’s highest accolade for business success” – for enterprise in international trade, in recognition of its rapid global expansion and export sales.

However, Bennett says the company is proud of what it has been doing and wants to keep focusing on the locations it has already established.

“There is a very big market for us in the areas we are already in, and we want to continue to execute in a very direct way,” he concludes. “We feel that will enable us to grow.”
