Stockton’s Master of Science in Nursing Rated Among Top 50 Graduate Programs in Nation

Stockton University’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program has been named one of the 50 best graduate nursing schools in America, by Top Master’s in Healthcare Administration, an independent online resource for information about health care management degrees.

The MSN is designed for Registered Nurses with bachelor’s degrees who wish to pursue a graduate degree with specialty certification as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner.

Top Master’s in Healthcare Administration said Stockton’s program “is a great resource for advanced specialization in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care… In 42 credits that can be distributed among 2-, 3-, and 4-year tracks, Stockton students develop a range of theoretical, statistical, and administrative skill-sets that will transform them into leaders in their career. Coursework in Advanced Pathology, Healthcare Systems and Pharmacology are featured alongside three practicums that challenge students’ professional experiences, allowing them to apply their new skills to real-world situations.”

Graduates of Stockton’s Nursing programs have a record of successful career outcomes. According to Dr. Ed Walton, the program director for the MSN, “94 percent of the adult gerontology primary care nursing practitioner students and 100 percent of the family nurse practitioner post-master’s degree students have passed their respective national certification exams.”

Stockton MSN program graduates are employed as nurse practitioners in many health care settings throughout the community, including in primary care offices and primary care capacities in hospitals, at walk-in/urgent care clinics, in hospital systems, in occupational medicine, in cardiology, orthopedics and endocrinology settings and in teaching.

The MSN program provides the foundation for many Stockton students to pursue doctoral degrees through an agreement with Chatham University in Pittsburgh that provides a seamless transition between the two schools.
