Lucy the Elephant Celebrates 133rd Birthday

Lucy the Elephant, our region’s National Historic Landmark, will celebrate her 133rd birthday on Saturday, July 19th.   The carnival like event will begin at 10am and continue throughout the day until 8pm.

No birthday party would be complete without hotdogs, soda, Philly Pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, peanuts, and of course, birthday cake.  Also new this year, we have added roasted fresh Jersey corn on the cob…YUM! Slide down the Big Kahuna water slide, bounce in the Birthday Cake Moon Bounce, take a chance in the dunk tank, or climb the new 40’ rock wall.

Evelyn Johnson of Cape May Court House, author of Lucy’s official bedtime storybooks, will be on hand to sign copies of her highly acclaimed children’s books from 10am to 4pm.   Tours through the World’s Largest Elephant will be offered every half  hour.

Music, food, and fun will be the order of the day as we celebrate 133 years of the World’s Largest Elephant.    Revenue generated from sales throughout the birthday celebration will help offset operating costs and capital improvements to our National Historic Landmark.

Satellite parking is available at Union Avenue School playground.  Entrance to the playground is located on Vendome Avenue between Winchester and Monmouth Avenues.  A complimentary shuttle, furnished by the Atlantic City Jitney Association, will be running every 15 minutes between the playground and Lucy from 10am to 8pm.

Stop by and say Happy Birthday to Lucy.  Lucy’s summer schedule is; Monday thru Saturday; 10am to 8pm; and Sundays; 10am to 5pm.
