A Sign of the Housing Market? “Crowds Expected” at Grand Opening of K. Hovnanian Homes Project in Waldwick

Is the housing market rebounding?  Farm Estates, a new townhome community in Waldwick (Bergen County), from homebuilder K. Hovnanian Homes, is opening this weekend.

As the homebuying market continues to rebound, builder anticipation is high in terms of expected turnout for this event. Thirty-one homes are available in the new community and the builder already has developed an “interest list” with over more than names on it.

Last spring, K. Hovnanian opened a community in Middlesex County, under similar circumstances: limited number of homes available, over 500 people signed up in advance on an interest list. Buyers reportedly began to line up outside the community’s sales office on the morning of the day before the grand opening, with several buyers camping out overnight to keep their place in line and not miss out on the chance to buy a home. Over 2,000 people ended up visiting during that grand opening weekend and the builder sold out of all available homes.

A very similar scenario could happen at Farm Estates with this grand opening event, particularly as the homebuying market is equally strong or even stronger now than last year at this time. This might demonstrate the resurgence of the housing market and the demand for new construction in our area, with people potentially camping out overnight again to buy a new home the on first day the homes are offered for sale.
