Sharla Feldscher Partners With Daughter Hope Horwitz and Announces Establishment of Feldscher Horwitz Public Relations (FHPR)

Sharla Feldscher is pleased to announce that her daughter, Hope Horwitz, is now her business partner. Feldscher, Philadelphia Public Relations Hall of Fame Inductee and owner of Sharla Feldscher Public Relations (SFPR) since 1984, and Horwitz have changed the name of the business to Feldscher Horwitz Public Relations (FHPR). The firm has a general base of clients that includes entertainment and attractions, senior healthcare, law, education and much more. With a recent move from Old City Philadelphia to Southern New Jersey, this award-winning boutique firm continues to thrive extending their clients from regional to national. Known for their effervescent style, mother, daughter and staff bring expanded visibility and positive results to their clients in the most creative ways, encouraging the media to share their stories.

Horwitz works with all of the clients at FHPR but oversees the work for national client Spring Hills Senior Communities and leads the team on the PR for Philadelphia’s annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival. Obviously, Horwitz was raised in the world of public relations, assisting her mom with clipboard in hand at events since she was a young teenager. While her career began in public relations, it has taken her to 15 years of experience with non-profit organizations as an event planner and fundraiser. She has always incorporated PR into her non-profit work. Getting recognized for her excellence in public relations, this fall she is being named an “Emerging Leader” from the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce and is a 2015 SNJ Business People “Top Women in Business”.

Feldscher smiles as she talks about this official welcome of Hope as her partner. She said, “I have so many memories of Hope and her sister Amy helping me at events, especially those at Sesame Place and the Merriam Theater, where SFPR handled public relations for 26 and 16 years respectively.” She laughs and adds, “It was the perfect introduction to public relations for Hope – working with Big Bird and helping with publicity events when a new show came to town.” She continues, “And, I have watched her grow as she tackled such mammoth events as the Walk to Cure Diabetes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and other major projects. She always had that spark for creativity and an incredible eye for details. It brings me such pride to hear our client, Christina O’Leary, Director of Branding and Media for Spring Hills Senior Communities, tell the executive staff at Spring Hills and in their many communities, ‘We have the best PR Team. Hope continues to get amazing results nationwide.’”

When thinking of her position with FHPR, Hope says, “I’ve been looking for how I can make my own personal mark in the world and I never expected it to be working with my mother. I find it very rewarding and fulfilling to bring recognition to our clients. Plus, I always defined my mother’s work as fun, and it is! The creative opportunities for us are limitless.”

Horwitz has had leadership positions with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Jersey, Deborah Hospital Foundation and she owned her own event planning and fundraising consulting business, Hopeful Solutions. Hope graduated from the University of Delaware, majoring in public relations. Her first job was in public relations with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC), followed by working at Breslow Partners, a boutique PR firm in Philadelphia. While in these positions, Hope realized she had a growing passion for events. At the GPCC she planned Operation Native Talent and a series called “Rethinking Philadelphia” which paired the Chamber with the Philadelphia Daily News to create a forum in which to address major issues facing our region. Combining her extensive event planning experience with PR has been a real asset to FHPR, especially when planning publicity events like The Philly POPS first Christmas in July announcement of their Christmas Spectacular concert series or a carnival held at Spring Hills Cherry Hill Assisted Living and open to the public.

In addition to Spring Hills Senior Communities and Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia’s Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, FHPR clients today include such entertainment venues and performers as Philadelphia Youth Orchestra; Bucks County Playhouse; The RRazz Room; Exit Zero Jazz Festival; The Philly POPS; Paul Jost; The Jost Project; Andrea Green Music plus Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP; Rothkoff Law Group and others.

Sharla Feldscher is a past president of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA) and is honored to have received many awards in addition to PPRA’s Hall of Fame. She was named a Woman of Distinction from Phila. Business Journal, received the Sarah Award from the Women in Communications and is also in the Overbrook High School Hall of Fame. Sharla is the author seven books with two published by Harper Collins.
