Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Summit CoWork Grand Opening Held at Gearhart Law Office

Summit Mayor, Ellen Dickson, recently participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside Innovation Plaza, commemorating the launch of a new co-workspace on River Road in Summit, called Summit CoWork.  Gearhart Law, an intellectual property firm which specializes in patents and trademarks, is the first and only law firm to offer a long-term co-workspace for entrepreneurs within its own facility.

The event was hosted by Carlos Abad and Jason Frasca, Founders of Summit CoWork and Organizers of LaunchNJ. Many local entrepreneurs and small business owners turned out to show their support and enjoyed networking and barbequing with the Gearhart Law and Summit CoWork staff.  For the first time, Abad and Frasca had the opportunity to take friends, colleagues, entrepreneurs, startups, long-time associates and LaunchNJ Meetup members for a tour of the new co-workspace.

In conjunction with Gearhart Law, LaunchNJ, an organization formed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs (which is in the process of obtaining a not-for-profit status), has agreed to furnish the office and provide numerous entrepreneurial support services to those who rent space in Summit CoWork. Abad and Frasca will be hosting various workshops, Meetups and events which will enable local entrepreneurs and startups to learn from and collaborate with one another.

“I tried to get others to open up a co-workspace in or around Madison for over a year because I felt it would be of great value to our community. When Jason and I were approached by the Gearhart Law firm with a very special offer, we decided to do it ourselves. In addition to the co-workspace, we have setup Summit Cowork Entrepreneurial Academy which will be pumping out a steady flow of educational programs for entrepreneurs and developers,” said Carlos Abad. “We were thrilled with the turnout at the Grand Opening and really enjoyed meeting local entrepreneurs and small business owners to learn about their unique ventures and challenges,” noted Jason Frasco.

“One of our patent agents, Elizabeth Gearhart, is heading up the Women Entrepreneurs Hub, a special interest group through LaunchNJ,” noted Richard Gearhart, CEO and Founder of Gearhart Law.  “The first meeting was held in Summit CoWork.  It was a huge success and the group already has over 70 members.  Due to the overwhelming response, their next meeting (September 18th) will be held at The Orangerie in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Library.”
