During a special ceremony recently at the Triple Play Realtor Convention & Trade Expo, New Jersey Realtors named its 2014 Realtor of the Year and Realtor-Associate of the Year. These two members were recognized for their contributions to the real estate industry, commitment to the Realtor organization, and involvement in their local communities. The award winners were selected from among the local board and association Realtor and Realtor-Associate of the Year in New Jersey.

Eugenia “Jean” K. Bonilla of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Mount Laurel was named the 2014 Realtor of the Year and Douglas Tortorelli of Coldwell Banker Flannagan Realty in Toms River was named 2014 Realtor-Associate of the Year.

“I am so proud to commend these two exceptional members on their accomplishments,” said 2014 NJ Realtors President Cindy Marsh-Tichy. “They are both exemplary Realtors with unrivaled experience and long, prosperous careers ahead of them.”

Bonilla, who will be the 2015 president of NJ Realtors, served as the NJ Realtors president-elect in 2014, first vice president in 2013, and was previously a division officer for two years after serving on multiple committees. She also serves as vice president on the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. The Burlington Camden County Association of Realtors named Bonilla Realtor of the Year for 2007-2008 and 2014. She also initiated the Cultural Diversity Committee at BCCAR.

With the National Association of Realtors, she is the New Jersey Representatives on the Housing Opportunity Foundation committee and a member of the legal committee for 2015, as well as a  member of the board of directors. Bonilla partnered with the late Senator Frank Lautenberg and Congressman John Runyan as a representative of NJ Realtors for their Housing Symposiums to help homeowners in distress. Bonilla also successfully completed the leadership academy program from 2012-2013.

Bonilla has been a volunteer for the Burlington County for Fair Housing Panels and has served in the architectural committee for her community, Newton’s Landing. She is fluent in Spanish and English and currently resides in Delanco with her husband.

Tortorelli has been a part of the Ocean County Board of Realtors since 2012, serving on the RPAC/legislative committee and Realtors Community Service committee. As a newer member, his dedication to community outreach through his board committee was evident from the first event he attended, and his commitment to his community ever since. Prior to becoming a part of the Realtor family, he served his community as an EMT for nine years.

Tortorelli has also been an active scout leader for the Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts of America for over 10 years. He is a member of the Toms River Elks and Community Emergency Response Team, which helps first responders.
