Lockheed Martin recently showcased its F-35 Lightning II mobile cockpit demonstrator to state and local elected officials and employees at Alcoa’s facility in Dover. Alcoa, a global leader in lightweight, high-performance metals, supplies key components for the F-35 engine and airframe.
There are more than 129,000 direct and indirect jobs tied to the F-35 program nationally, producing about $17.5 billion in economic impact.
“We’re pleased to show Alcoa’s employees how their hard work and innovation contribute to the capabilities of the F-35 Lightning II, the most advanced fighter jet in the world,” said Steve Callaghan, director, F-35 Program, Lockheed Martin Washington Operations. “Alcoa’s employees here in Dover and elsewhere are producing critical components for the F-35s flying today, and we’re excited to offer an opportunity to showcase this fighter’s superior performance capabilities to them and the Northern New Jersey community.”
“Alcoa is proud to supply a wide range of components that support the F-35 program from high-performance parts at the heart of the engine and body structure, to the fasteners that hold the aircraft together,” said Eric Roegner, president of Alcoa Defense. “Partnering with Lockheed Martin and other suppliers, Alcoa continues to provide innovative components that enable increased fuel efficiency and performance for this critical defense application.”
