Lakeland Bank Awards $144,500 in College Scholarships

Oak Ridge-based Lakeland Bank distributed $144,500 in scholarships to high school seniors who graduated this year from Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. The funds were raised last September at the bank’s 2015 Annual Scholarship Golf Outing.

“As a community bank, we are committed to helping local families save, prepare, and pay for higher education,” said Thomas Shara, president and CEO of Lakeland Bank. “Last year’s Annual Scholarship Golf Outing exceeded our fundraising goal, allowing Lakeland Bank to provide scholarships to 72 students from 59 public and private high schools as well as another five students already attending college.”

The scholarships are presented to students selected by their school who have demonstrated academic success and have an interest in pursuing a higher education. Lakeland Bank congratulates the students from the following schools who were selected to receive the 2016 scholarships:

Bergen County: Becton Regional High School, Bergen Catholic High School, Bergen County Technical School, Don Bosco Prep, Dwight Morrow High School, Hackensack High School, Indian Hills High School, Ma’ayanot Yeshiva School for Girls, Paramus Catholic High School, Park Ridge High School, Ramapo High School, Rutherford High School, Saint Joseph Regional High School, Teaneck High School, Torah Academy of Bergen County

Essex County: James Caldwell High School, Verona High School, West Caldwell Tech, West Essex Regional High School

Lakeland Bank will host its 44th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing on Tuesday, September 27 at Crystal Springs Golf Resort located in Hamburg. The bank’s goal is to raise $150,000 to award in scholarships.
