Importer Ambriola Company Acquired by Leading Italian Cheese Maker

The Ambriola Company, West Caldwell, one of the largest importers and distributors of specialty Italian cheese and prosciutto di Parma from Italy, has been acquired by Auricchio S.p.A of Cremona, Italy, which dates back to 1877.

The Ambriola Company, Inc. will continue to operate at the same location in West Caldwell.  The company has imported the finest Italian cheeses since 1921 and is the sole importer of the two most respected brands of cheese from Italy, both produced by Auricchio: the legendary Auricchio provolone and the Locatelli brand, the number-one imported Italian brand of cheese in America.

“As a wholly owned subsidiary of Auricchio, S.p.A., the Ambriola Company, Inc. will continue to build on its reputation as the importer of only the finest specialty cheeses from Italy,” says Phil Marfuggi, who has been named CEO of the Ambriola Company, Inc.

Alberto Auricchio will serve as president and Ann Marie Hauman as vice president.

Auricchio S.p.A has seven manufacturing plants in Italy. In addition to Auricchio provolone and Locatelli, it produces a full range of DOP cheeses, from gorgonzola, taleggio, quartirolo, mascarpone, ricotta salata, sheep’s milk cheeses, pecorino romano to parmigiano reggiano, just to name a few.
