GSH Group Awarded Staten Island Ferry Terminals Contract

Parsippany-based GSH Group, Inc., a multi-national facilities and energy management provider throughout the United States, Europe and India, announced that it has been awarded a five year contract with The City of New York Department of Transportation to deliver maintenance, service and repair services of the boiler systems located at the Staten Island Ferry Terminals.  Valued at over $700, 000, the contract started on December 8, 2014.

GSH is responsible for supplying of all labor, equipment, parts and supervision to provide service, planned maintenance and repairs on the boiler systems located at the St. George and Whitehall Ferry Terminals, Ferry Maintenance Building and 1 Ferry Terminal Drive.  The Staten Island Ferry is one of the last terminals still remaining out of the entire ferry system in New York City that transport people between the boroughs of Manhattan to Staten Island. The Staten Island Ferry provides service to over 22 million people each year.

GSH services this contract with its skilled roving journeymen workforce supported by the company’s in-house call center.  GSH’s call center is operational 24/7/365 and is furnished with a computerized maintenance management system for work planning and labor tracking.  Journeymen are equipped with handheld devices for electronic dispatch and receipt of work orders, cutting down on administrative paperwork while permitting more time in the field.

GSH Vice President Frankie McDonald commented, “It’s been a great year for GSH with extraordinary growth in New York. Now that we have been trusted to provide service for the iconic Staten Island Ferry terminal, we couldn’t imagine a better way to close out the year. With so many people traveling through the Terminals each year, it is paramount that the terminals are comfortable for all visitors and GSH will be working hard to ensure that the operation is running properly and efficiently.”
