 Miles Technologies aims to provide companies with effective and efficient business management tools.

Entrepreneur Chris Miles did not initially find himself working in the IT industry. However, he took his love for computers and technology and eventually created something of which he is extremely proud.

When Miles was a teenager, he started his own construction business, but often found himself providing technical support to help his clients improve their own businesses. After a while, he decided to take what he learned throughout the years to focus on starting his own technology-based company.

In 1997, Miles founded Miles Technologies, a business-to-business tech solutions firm that provides “IT, business software and web/marketing consulting services to organizations of all sizes and industries.”

“I started the company wanting to help businesses accomplish more by utilizing technology,” Miles says. “I learned so much regarding what companies wanted and needed when I was working in construction, and wanted to take my passion and knowledge for computers, and I decided this is what I wanted to do.”

Today, Miles is focusing on Business by Miles, a cloud-based Business Productivity Software (BPS) that allows small- and medium-sized companies to run virtually all aspects of their businesses anywhere, and from any device.

Companies can “streamline” their business operations with Business by Miles with processes such as human resources tasks, customer relationship management, order fulfillment, financial, project and payroll management, and more, all from a single web-based client.

“Basically, it makes things much easier for a smaller company – that does not have the resources or the money – to keep track of all of its business operations,” Miles says. “We wanted to create an easy, technology-based solution for these companies, and with Business by Miles, I think we have done that.”

All of the Miles Technologies and Business by Miles work is conducted at the company’s 28,000-square-foot Moorestown office, and Miles attributes the company’s success to its 142 “talented” employees. The Business by Miles aspect of the company is in year one of its 10-year business plan, and expects to substantially grow over that time. It currently has 15 companies utilizing Business by Miles since it launched in 2013, and Miles has his sights set on gaining significantly more clientele.

“Our plan over the next nine years is to grow to have approximately 250 employees,” he says. “Additionally, by 2023, I see Business by Miles being utilized by thousands of companies. There are so many aspects of running a business that we need to keep adding features and functions to continue to supply companies with what they need to run efficiently and effectively.

“When I started Miles Technologies, I didn’t think it would grow to be what it is today,” he concludes. “I did hit and exceed most of the goals I had when I started, but now, I think the company can reach even bigger heights.”
