Advancing Innovative Ideas in NJ

New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF) is a not-for-profit corporation supporting biomedical research, education and healthcare programs in New Jersey through its Grant Programs and its affiliate, Foundation Venture Capital Group (FVCC), which provides pre-seed investments to help biomedical startup companies advance toward commercialization.

FVCG has already invested in 10 companies and is looking to invest in others. Portfolio companies to date:

  • Actinobac Biomed, developing a therapeutic agent targeting blood cells to treat hematological malignancies, autoimmune/inflammatory diseases and latent infections
  • Affineti Biologics, advancing therapeutic and diagnostic products in oral biology and dental medicine
  • CellXplore, developing biomarker-based in vitro diagnostic assays
    for cancer
  • Celvive, working to treat patients with chronic spinal cord injuries using their own adult stem cells
  • Durin Technologies, developing a diagnostic blood test for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease
  • GeneAssess, using the FRY gene as a predictive biomarker for breast and other cancers
  • Longevica Pharmaceuticals (sold)
  • MentiNova, validating a drug to reduce side effects of L-Dopa
    Induced Dyskinesia
  • NovoPedics, developing an implantable meniscus replacement/regeneration medical device to restore mobility to patients with severe meniscus knee injuries
  • Snowdon Pharmaceuticals, focused on drug discovery in several major therapeutic areas, providing computational tools to rapidly identify high-value molecules from their library of vendor-available compounds

Rutgers University: Open for Business

Established in 1766, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is America’s eighth oldest institution of higher learning and one of the nation’s premier public research universities, educating more than 65,000 students.
