New Jersey Institute of Technology Hosts the Technology & Entrepreneurship Talent Network (TETN) Kicking Off Industry Week

NJIT’s Technology & Entrepreneurship Talent Network is one of nine Talent Networks established by the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development to connect employers, job seekers, the state’s One Stop Career Centers, and educational institutions to help grow the economy through workforce development. TETN assists those who want to start or grow a business in New Jersey, or who want to pursue a career in technology areas such as IT/software, communications, life sciences, electronics/advanced manufacturing, and energy/environment.

NJIT will host the opening ceremony of the TETN Industry Week with keynote speakers the Honorable Aaron R. Fichtner, PhD., Deputy Commissioner of the NJ State Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and Dennis Bone, Director of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship at Montclair State University and former president of Verizon. NJIT will host a “People 2 BusinessTM” Meet Up following the kick-off session, connecting mid and upper-level volunteers with entrepreneurial companies, giving the former opportunities to contribute their skills while helping entrepreneurs grow their companies.

●    Economic Development – NJIT maintains a robust technology business incubator, the Enterprise Development Center (EDC). With over 95 companies in residence, the EDC is the state’s oldest and largest business incubator and one of the largest university-run enterprises in the country. NJIT is nationally ranked for invention disclosures relative to federal research and development support. NJIT also has launched highly successful extension centers in manufacturing, health information technology and brownfield remediation.

●    Training –NJIT has trained over 74,000 professionals associated with approximately 600 companies since 1990. Moreover, NJIT also hosts ManufactureNJ, a second New Jersey Talent Network focusing on advanced manufacturing.
